Acute Pancreatitis: The computed tomography severity index (CTSI) according to Balthazar

    • To assess acute pancreatitis with a CT scan severity index
    • The CTSI is the total of the CT grade score and necrosis score
    • The score ranges from 0 to 10
    • There are three grades of severity: severity index 0-3; 4-6; 7-10
    • Patient with a score > 5 are more likely to die, have a prolonged hospital stay and are more likely to undergo necrosectomy
