Bile duct injury: classification of laparoscopic injury to the biliary tract according to Strasberg
Abstract
To propose a classification that includes bilomas and bile leaks in the spectrum of biliary surgery
Type A injuries originates from small bile ducts in the liver bed or from the cystic duct
Type B and C injury almost always involve aberrant right hepatic ducts
Type D injury may involve the common bile duct, Type E injury is the Bismuth classification of bile duct injuries
Loss of a ductal segment or stenosis and length of stenosis should be noted
